Monoprint of cuttlefish

Here's one of my attempts at drawing a giant Cuttlefish using Monoprinting techniques.  As I don't have a press or a board I used our marble chopping board and lino ink to cover it, before adding a sheet and drawing on top of it.

I love the character of line you get in a monoprint, and there is some interesting marks that have come out of this, and also some that have worked less well.  I like some of the patterning, but less happy with the shading effects which look rushed and patchy..  

It will be interesting to add some water colours to this, and try some prints where I use multiple colours as well.
